DSC has recently signed up to two important new voluntary sector campaigns:
“Give It Back, George!” is headed up by NCVO, CAF and Philanthropy Review, and is a direct response to the March 2012 budget announcement of a cap on income tax reliefs that will affect charities, both fundraising ones and grant-making foundations, large and small, and the philanthropists who support them. The campaign is calling on the Chancellor to reverse his decision and exempt charitable donations from the plans to cap personal tax reliefs.
What you can do: Go to the campaign website and sign up as an individual or organisation; contribute your opinions and experience of the likely effect of the cap (Twitter hashtag #giveitbackgeorge, follow @GIB_George); contact your MP and spread the word to increase the pressure.
“Give More” is a 12 month campaign to encourage people to share their passion for the causes they care about by making a public commitment to give more money, time or energy in the next year and to get us all talking more about giving. Independent of government, it is funded through Pears Foundation with support from individual ambassadors, companies, charities and the public sector.
What you can do: Go to the campaign website and sign up with your individual pledge; spread the word to your organisation, members, friends & neighbours (Twitter: follow @GiveMorePledge).
