Youth and sports organisations can kick off the school year with fresh fundraising ideas and sources of support listed in two new guides from the Directory of Social Change (DSC).

Winning support for your sport

Sports Funding Guide co-author Tom Traynor says: “Competition in sport is not confined to the football pitch or the running track. Competition to secure sports funding can be just as intense. This guide is designed to give small and medium-sized sport clubs and groups the tools to get a head start and achieve their goals.”

The guide offers advice on how to raise money from the public, grant-making charities, the National Lottery, government and Local Authorities and Europe as well as listing funding sources in these areas. The guide also covers fundraising strategy, funding applications, company sponsorship, Sportsmatch, 2012 Olympics, sports organisations and charitable status, and tax benefits.

Raising money for youth

Youth Funding Guide author Denise Lillya says: “This guide is designed to help those fundraising for youth work to access the necessary resources that enable young people to reach their potential and to contribute to society in a very positive way - so we all benefit.”

The funding guide offers a unique insight into how to raise money for youth-related causes and lists the details of the top grant-making charities. Ideal for anyone working for youth organisations, youth agencies or running projects involving young people, this new edition covers topics such as getting started in fundraising, raising money from the public, funding from companies, writing applications and the Big Lottery Fund.
