To develop participants' understanding of accounts and financial management issues, including the key issues to be aware of with both statutory and internal management accounts.

Those who have attended "Accounting and Financial Management" and would like to develop their understanding. Those with some financial training and experience who would like to develop their knowledge.

Learning Outcomes

- Identify the key concepts of SORP relating to both the accounts and the annual report
- Recognise the content of good management information beyond just the financial information
- Recognise the key components of good financial control

Content

- Principles and jargon-refresher on trustees' annual report and overview of SORP 2005
- Principles and jargon-statement of financial activities and balance sheet
- Accounting-key policies as well as principles of budgeting and management information
- Systems and controls-characteristics of a good control environment
- The role of the auditor and case studies
