The Worldwide Fundraiser’s Handbook - A Resource Mobilisation Guide for NGOs and Community Organisations, By Michael Norton
The Resource Alliance and Directory of Social Change (DSC) have come together to announce the publication of the third edition of The Worldwide Fundraiser’s Handbook. Written by Michael Norton, the book is the definitive handbook for fundraising in the developing world (including Africa, Asia, Latin America and countries of Eastern Europe).
More than just an update, this new edition reflects the rapid advancement of fundraising in recent years, exploring the latest new media and digital fundraising techniques. The book is published by the Directory of Social Change and produced in association with the Resource Alliance.
Using case studies to demonstrate good practice, it offers guidance and advice on: establishing effective local fundraising; sourcing a wide range of funding (including government, companies and charitable foundations) and fundraising techniques. This book is intended for fundraisers working in or with the developing world to mobilise local resource.
Michael Norton, author of The Worldwide Fundraiser’s Handbook and Founder of the Directory of Social Change, says:
“It is really important for organisations which are fighting poverty and promoting social change in every part of the world to develop support locally in their communities and in their country, and not simply rely on the flow of international aid and charitable donations from the rich world. Fundraising works all over the world. Individuals and companies everywhere are prepared to give if they are asked effectively. In this book I try to provide an overview of the fundraising process and also information and advice which will assist fundraisers and social entrepreneurs raise the money they need to carry out their work”.
Alan Bird, Marketing and Communications Director at the Resource Alliance, adds:
“Resource Alliance is delighted to partner with the DSC to produce such a valuable resource to fundraisers across the globe, particularly those in developing countries. Our aim is to support anyone tasked with raising money for their organisation, by facilitating knowledge share, providing learning and networking opportunities. We hope that this book will be instrumental to fundraisers, particularly those working across the global South”.
