Publications

Publication dates and prices

These were correct at the time of uploading this catalogue, but dates may be subject to change, and we reserve the right to amend prices where necessary.

Advance orders

If the product you want is not in stock or has not yet been published, we will keep your order on file and process it as soon as the book becomes available (not possible for credit card orders).

Overseas orders

If you are outside the UK, you can order online or by phone and pay by credit card. You can also put your order in writing to the address on the order form. 

We will invoice you on a pro-forma basis, with the appropriate overseas postage charge added. The books will be sent as soon as we receive payment in one of the following ways:

  • Credit card using our official order form which will be sent with the pro-forma invoice
  • Sterling cheque drawn on UK bank
  • Sterling bank draft drawn on UK bank

Please make cheques payable to 'Directory of Social Change'.

For overseas orders delivery times are dependent on the final destination but we are willing to give estimated timings on request.

Refunds and exchanges

If you would like to return a book or CD to us, please download the Returns Authorisation Form below.

If we make a mistake with your order, or you receive a damaged book or CD, simply return it to us (with the completed returns form) and we will replace it and refund the cost of return postage.

If you are not completely satisfied with your order for any reason, or change your mind after you have received it, return it to us in saleable condition (with the completed returns form) within 14 working days and we will either credit your account or refund the full cost of the order to you. We hope that you will understand that since we are a voluntary organisation and need to control our costs, our policy is not to refund return postage in these circumstances.

This does not affect your statutory rights.

Downloads

Payment

Downloads can only be paid for by debit or credit card. This is an additional security measure as downloads are accessible immediately after the transaction is completed. We need to receive payment prior to granting access. For more information click here.

Conditions of use

Paid for downloads are for the express use of the purchaser only.
You must not:

  • Make electronic copies of the document(s) except for storage/personal use
    The document can be accessed any number of times from the My Items section of My DSC
  • Print or distribute copies of the document(s)
  • Forward the document(s) to others
  • Make the document(s) available for others to download
  • Amend or edit the document(s)
  • Extract sections of the document(s) for use elsewhere

Refunds

If you are not completely satisfied with your order for any reason, or change your mind after you have received it, please complete the Return form for Downloads within 14 working days. We will then refund the debit/credit card from which payment was taken.

In order to receive your refund, you must:

  • Recover and remove all copies of the download(s)
  • Dispose of any printed copies of the download(s)
  • Make no further attempt to access the specific download(s) from your My Items list

Courses and Conferences

How to book

Book online by choosing the course or conference you are interested in and adding it to the shopping cart and using the secure online payment method.. We accept phone bookings except for conferences and training fairs. Book well in advance as our courses fill quickly. Subject to availability, your place is confirmed when we receive your booking. If you have not received written confirmation within 3 weeks of submitting your form, please contact customer services on 08450 77 77 07.

Payment

Payment must be made in full no later than 14 working days prior to the start of the course. We reserve the right to reallocate the course place to another delegate if fees are not paid in time.

Transferring courses

This option only applies to delegates wishing to transfer to a different date on the same course. The option to transfer delegates can only be used once, after which any movement will be considered a cancellation and any outstanding invoices will remain due irrespective of the number of working days’ notice given for the cancellation.

The following charges will apply if you wish to transfer your booking to a later course date:

  • At any stage after confirmation is received - 10% administration charge
  • 14 working days prior to the event – 25%
  • 7 working days prior to the event – 50%
  • 3 working days prior to the event – 75%
Substituting delegates

If you wish to transfer a place on a course to another delegate the first change is free and thereafter there will be a 10% administration charge.

Cancelling courses

The following charges will apply if you wish to cancel a course

  • 21+ working days prior to the event – 10%
  • 1-20 working days prior to the event – 100%
  • Non attendance on the day – 100%

In exceptional circumstances this fee may be waived at the discretion of the Administration Manager. In such circumstances, write to the Administration Manager giving full details of why you were unable to attend enclosing any supporting documentation, eg a doctor’s note.

Cancellations must be received in writing or via email to training@dsc.org.uk and must contain the full booking details including organisation name, booking and delegate contact details and invoice/receipt number. Verbal cancellations will not be accepted.

Fee Band

We operate a fee band system in order to make sure that our training is available to the smallest voluntary groups.

The fee bands are as follows:

Band A – Voluntary and community organisations with an annual turnover of up to £500,000. If your organisation has a turnover of less than £100,000 we may at our discretion be able to accommodate your needs.

Band B – Voluntary and community organisations with an annual turnover of over £500,000.

Band C – Statutory and commercial organisations

Data Protection

DSC will use the information you provide on your booking form and additional information you may provide in future, for administering our training courses. We will not disclose this information to any other person or organisation, except in connection with the above purpose. All course participants are provided with a list of their co-participants’ names and organisations, but no further details are disclosed.
