George Knight
Training Consultant, DSC
Read MoreGeorge joined DSC at the beginning of 2017 and, having previously led the sales and customer service teams, moved into training at the start of 2020.
He trains in Management & Leadership, Fundraising, Personal Development, Project Management and Wellbeing. He has extensive experience in helping organisations make positive changes to how they approach social change.
He is also qualified as a Mental Health First Aider, with additional time spent studying Psychosis.
The favourite part of his role is knowing that the work DSC performs has a major impact on both the charities and individuals that we are able to serve.

Eileen Browne
Training Consultant, DSC
Read MoreEileen joined DSC in January 2018, and having worked within the commercial teams in charities and social enterprises brought a wealth of experience of generating income and delivering high quality services into the DSC Sales team.
Eileen’s many years’ experience as a trainer in both the commercial and 3rd sectors was then employed as she became a member of the Training team, designing, updating, producing, retailing and delivering courses and workshops.
Eileen enjoys being part of a team that is genuine, professional and totally committed to building sustainable charities with well trained, confident trustees, employees and volunteers.

Jay Kennedy
Director of Policy and Research, DSC
Read MoreJay Kennedy is the Director of Policy and Research at the Directory of Social Change (DSC), where he has worked since 2003 in a variety of roles involving research, policy and public affairs, and senior management. In 2024 DSC published Jay’s Speed Read on Campaigning, which is an accessible, introductory guide for charities wanting to influence the UK political system.
Jay is responsible for DSC’s Research Team, which researches information for DSC’s fundraising publications and its funding website www.fundsonline.org.uk, and conducts bespoke research for a range of grant-makers and other charity clients.

Kalli Jayasuriya
Researcher, DSC
Read MoreKalli joined DSC in May 2023 and is part of the Research Team.
She studied Languages and Politics at the University of Nottingham, before doing a Masters in Gender and International Development at the University of Warwick.
Her favourite part about being a member of the DSC team is engaging with charities' important work and helping support their independence by working on DSC’s fundraising guides like DGMT and Major Trusts.
She is also an active member of DSC’s internal wellbeing team, which regularly meets to discuss wellbeing concerns and new initiatives to promote better wellbeing. In 2024, she helped produce the organisation’s annual wellbeing report.
Outside of DSC, she gets involved with Women Beyond Walls, a platform that aims to influence policymaking and discourse surrounding the incarceration of women and girls. She also loves gardening and nature!

Katy Schnitzler
Information, Training and Research Lead, Miscarriage Association
Read MoreKaty Schnitzler is the Information, Training and Research Lead at the Miscarriage Association. Through this role, Katy has supported numerous organisations to improve practice in the area of pregnancy loss at work.
Katy's extensive knowledge and experience informs her training delivery, including findings from her PhD, which investigates the lived experiences of miscarriage in the world of work.
Alongside her role at the Miscarriage Association, Katy is an academic, specialising in Health, Business and Psychology. Katy has taught across degree and Masters level programmes and conducts research on reproductive health at work with various universities.

Professor Jen Shang, PhD
Co-Founder and Director, Institute for Sustainable Philanthropy
Read MoreJen Shang is the world’s first PhD in Philanthropy. She is also the world’s only philanthropic psychologist. Her research has been covered in the New York Times, BBC, The Guardian, the Chronicle of Philanthropy, Advancing Philanthropy and the Nonprofit Times. Jen has been published in numerous academic journals including, the Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, the Economic Journal, Experimental Economics, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, and Nonprofit Management and Leadership. Her research has been funded by the Society of Judgment and Decision Making, the National Science Foundation, The Aspen Institute, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and the Hewlett Foundation.
