Eileen Browne
Training Consultant, DSC
Read MoreEileen joined DSC in January 2018, and having worked within the commercial teams in charities and social enterprises brought a wealth of experience of generating income and delivering high quality services into the DSC Sales team.
Eileen’s many years’ experience as a trainer in both sectors was then employed as she became a member of the Training team, designing, updating, producing, retailing, facilitating and delivering courses and workshops.
Eileen enjoys being part of the DSC Services team that is genuine, professional and totally committed to building sustainable charities with well trained, psychologically safe, confident trustees, employees and volunteers.

Julia Nwaneke
Associate, Russell Cooke
Read MoreJulia Nwaneke is an associate in the charity law and not for profit team. She qualified as a solicitor at a leading London firm in 2023 and joined Russell Cooke in May 2024.
Julia advises charities on all aspects of employment law, including employment policies, redundancies, discrimination and whistleblowing issues. She is known for her excellent communication skills.

Stephanie Lawless

She has Trustee experience: at Brain Tumour Support for 7 years and soon to join an animal welfare charity. Working at Diabetes UK and Dogs for Good, Stephanie has led teams on regional and community fundraising, events and public fundraising. She is now Director of Fundraising & Marketing at Katharine House Hospice in Oxfordshire and leads a team of 12. She strongly believes that we must all live the behaviours we expect from others, and that every working day should involve laughter and preferably a little sarcasm.

Her approach blends behavioural science, audience insight, and integrated execution across media relations, digital content, partnerships, and stakeholder engagement. Kat has also delivered media training to senior charity leaders navigating challenging conversations.
Kat has advised Mental Health First Aid England for over a decade and she has shaped national campaigns alongside the likes of the NSPCC and Barnardo’s. Her clients have included the British Science Association, Drinkaware, Nominet Trust, and Nesta alongside various civil society organisations.

Jacqueline Williams

Jacqueline has extensive experience working with voluntary sector organisations on aspects of leadership and governance cultures, behaviours and processes. An area of specialism being financial governance including financial management and reporting law and good practice.
Jacqueline reviewed and developed the current edition of the Charity Trustee Handbook (DSC publication). She has an MSc in Corporate Governance and Business Ethics from Birbeck University and is a qualified lawyer (Barrister) with an LLB from London University, in addition to being a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

Catrina Miller

Catrina was shortlisted as Best Fundraising Newcomer at the Institute of Fundraising Awards and prior to working in the events and charity sectors, she worked with a wide range of businesses helping them with their PR needs.
Debra Allcock Tyler
CEO, DSC
Read MoreDebra has worked in the charitable and voluntary sector for nearly 40 years with brief forays into the private sector.
Amongst numerous other roles, she is Co-Chair of the Soldiering on Awards. She is a Trustee of In Kind Direct, one of the Prince's Foundation Charities, a governor of the Berkshire NHS Community Foundation Trust, a Commissioner on the Local News Commission of the Public Interest News Foundation, and just recently stood down as trustee of the Berkshire Community Foundation.
She is also an Africa Advocacy Foundation Ambassador for women and girls at risk of or affected by Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
Debra has served as a trustee of several charities including being the co-founder of the Small Charities Coalition and was its first Chair. She served on the Charity Commission's SORP committee for over 7 years and was the Vice-Chair of Governors of Whiteknights primary school for 6 years.
She is a renowned public speaker with many years' experience of training and coaching and is an internationally published author of several books on management and leadership including It's Tough at the Top; The Pleasure and the Pain; It's Murder in Management and It's a Battle on the Board. Debra has a regular monthly column in Third Sector magazine and has appeared on Radio 4's The Moral Maze.
Debra is an alumna of Windsor Leadership having participated on the Strategic Leaders Consultation.

Cathy Shimmin,
Senior Training Consultant, DSC
Read MoreCathy Shimmin is the Senior Training Consultant at the Directory of Social Change. The purpose of this role is to ensure charities and those who work in this sector have the training, resources and information they need to help their beneficiaries.
During her 20 plus years at DSC she has also worked as Senior Training Manager, Courses and Conferences Manager, In House Training Manager and Projects and Development Manager. With a background in voluntary sector infrastructure and support organisations in Ireland and the UK, Cathy has 25 years’ experience in learning and development, with both individuals and organisations.
She has worked with marginalised and ‘hard to reach’ * individuals as well as CEO’s, senior managers, staff and volunteers of voluntary, community and charitable organisations. * Prefer the term “easy to ignore!” Her training specialisms are in communication and interpersonal skills; sales and business development; coaching; leadership; management and organisational development.
