The Sir Jules Thorn Charitable Trust Hospice Fund
The Sir Jules Thorn Charitable Trust is running an additional round of its Hospice Fund grant programme in recognition of the continued pressures many hospices are experiencing due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The trust will be providing one-off grants of up to £5,000 to support hospices’ core costs. Applications are accepted from hospices that are UK registered charities, members of either Hospice UK or Together for Short Lives and currently have level of free reserves are equivalent to 12 months or less of its operating costs. The Loneliness Engagement Fund
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport is providing grants of between £15,000 to £50,000 to organisations that engage with those most affected by loneliness during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Loneliness Engagement Fund is open to organisations that have a track record of delivering effective communications and engagement activity at a national level; and who have a proven reach and track record of engaging with one or more of the following target groups:
- young people aged 16-24
- people with diagnosed mental health conditions
- people living alone
- people from lower income households
- people who are unemployed
- people with disabilities
Funding is to be used to help organisations to continue, adapt or expand existing activity that reaches groups at a higher risk of loneliness and supports the government’s loneliness objectives. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 13 October. To find out more and to apply, visit the website.

National Heritage Memorial Fund’s Covid-19 Response Fund
Applications are open for the National Heritage Memorial Fund’s Covid-19 Response Fund. The fund will support any heritage asset which is of outstanding importance to the national heritage and at risk due to Covid-19. Project grants are available for a range of purposes including acquisition/purchase costs, transport costs, professional fees, organisational development costs, urgent conservation work and so on. Charities, not-for-profit organisations and public sector organisations are eligible to apply. There is no deadline for applications, to find out more visit the website.
