People's Health Trust - Finance for Non-Finance Managers Stage 1 online course

This free half-day (3 hour) online course is for funded partners of People’s Health Trust. Sessions are open to whoever is best placed to attend, for example staff, volunteers and Trustees. There is no charge to attend.

A basic overview of finance for project staff and trustees including how to manage budgets.

This course is very practical and involves the completion of tasks which will enhance the learning and help boost your confidence in understanding and managing your organisations’ finances.

  • Financial obligations
  • Overview of Bookkeeping and Accounts
  • Basics of costings for a project
  • Basics of budget preparation
  • Budgeting for multiple projects
  • Basic Management Accounts – Keeping track of the budget
  • How to track spending once a project is live
  • Key questions to ask when looking at a budget or management accounts.

What will I get out of it?

  • Learn how to create your own budget, including estimates of costs and incomes, and how to present it to your managers along with your project plans.
  • Understand where your own budget fits into the wider picture of your charity’s finances.
  • Learn the various terms, obligations and practices of charity finance.
  • Tracking spending of grant budgets/live projects.
