People's Health Trust - Strategy & Business Planning Online Course

This free half-day (3 hour) online course is for funded partners of People’s Health Trust. Sessions are open to whoever is best placed to attend, for example staff, volunteers and Trustees. There is no charge to attend.

All organisations need a clear and understandable strategy that maximises positive outcomes for beneficiaries. Additionally due consideration is required to ensure the organisation is fit for future purpose and invests in its own sustainability

Staff and trustees looking at their organisation’s future direction and strategy and drawing up business plans.

• Understand what strategy is and its relevance to voluntary organisations.
• Use an outline process you can adapt to help your organisation develop strategy in a creative, participative and structured way.
• Understand a range of practical tools and techniques to help develop future strategy
• Understand how to bring about strategic change in organisations.
• Appreciate how a plan can be used internally to steer the organisation, and externally to win support from funders.
• Understand the business planning format and process.
• Learn to lead the planning process and how trustees, staff, volunteers and others can play a part in developing the plan.

• The Importance of the organisational vision
• Compliance with internal and external legal requirements
• Confirming the beneficiary requirement
• Methodologies for deciding strategies – doing the right thing
• Creating options for delivery
• Understanding the roles of the Board and the SMT in setting, delivering, and monitoring the strategy
• Practical approaches to improving the delivery of the strategy – doing things right
• Awareness of financial and risk considerations
• Capturing, understanding, and monitoring delivery and the impact on changing strategic options
• Capturing and communicating the delivery in an action or business plan

Participants will be encouraged to discuss, engage, and challenge the approaches and methodologies and together consider how the content can be utilised within their own responsibilities/ organisation.
