Could you be a DSC Trustee?

Are you passionate about the charity sector? Want to help tens of thousands of charities to be as awesome as they possibly can? Love the idea of championing the massive impact that independent charities have across the UK? Then we want to hear from you! We’re currently looking for people to join our (already pretty amazing) Board of Trustees. Find out more here.

About DSC

DSC’s books, training courses, events, research and campaigns help tens of thousands of charities across the UK every year, from small local groups to the largest household names.

Our current board is experienced, flexible and welcoming and we are now looking to add new people.

We’re especially keen to hear from applicants who have experience in or an understanding of any of the following:

  • Digital expertise(understanding of digital trends, data, user experience;).
  • Commercial experience, particularly:
    • E-commerce or online retail.
    • Major accounts or commercial partnerships management.
  • Faith-based background, ideally a leader from a faith-based charity (but open to others with relevant perspective).
  • Smaller charity experience, ideally from organisations with turnover between £250k and £750k per year.
  • Experience of working in a Trust or Foundation, or other Funder.

Although experience at board level is welcome, you don’t have to be an experienced trustee as we will help you learn about board leadership. It is more important that you care about the wider charitable sector and support the work and values of DSC.

All new trustees receive a full induction, are partnered with an existing trustee for their first year and are able (and encouraged!) to make the most of the excellent governance training and support DSC provides.

Trustees are required to attend a minimum of four meetings annually, at least one in person, with one away-day.  They are also expected to contribute to on-line Working Groups on an ad hoc basis, take a lead on issues facing the charity and support DSC. Active engagement with the charity will add up to the equivalent of around 10 days p.a. – in and out of working hours.

We welcome applications from any part of the country and DSC will cover all reasonable travel expenses associated with attending trustee meetings.
