A new civil society strategy
The government has announced a new strategy which aims to strengthen the relationship between public bodies and the charity sector. The minister for civil society said the project is about charities making better use of the resources already available to them. There has been a mixed response from charities regarding the strategy. The shadow minister for civil society has condemned the government’s announcement describing it as “little more than a tick-box exercise to cover up the government’s total neglect of the sector”. A consultation on the strategy is expected to take place in January.

The new partnership aims to encourage more fundraisers to join charity boards and achieve higher standards of fundraising.
