Why not add some Government Funding to your funding mix?

In a time of economic uncertainty it is important for charities to diversify their funding sources as funders’ priorities can quickly change

Each year the government provides around £2 billion in grant funding to the charity sector.

A lot of this is often overlooked by small and medium sized charities as they believe it is only accessible to major charities. However, this is not the case as there is a whole range of Government grants available for a variety of different types and size of charity. Grants range from as little as £250 to as much as £10 million and are available for a whole range of causes.

Features

Many charities are put off applying for government funding due to the complex application procedures and eligibility criteria. A lot of schemes have now streamlined their application process and have introduced features such as online eligibility checkers to make it as easy as possible for organisations to apply. The government funding website tries to identify the pertinent information and break it down into easily digestible sections such as:

  • an overview of the scheme
  • eligibility criteria
  • eligible expenditure
  • Application procedures
  • how to apply and application deadlines
  • details of the number and size of grants available
  • relevant contact details and links

Funding sources

An often overlooked source of funding is local government and the vast majority of councils have retained some sort of grant scheme despite pressure for spending cuts from central government. The government funding website contains around 155 councils and has recently been fully updated. The entries contain contact details of the grant schemes for each council, contact details and links to other useful organisations in the area.

European funding is viewed by many as a daunting and complex prospect but we are here to help you through the process.  All the scheme information is broken down into sections so you can quickly decide which is right for you.  A lot of European funds are only available to businesses but we check eligibility to ensure you only receive details of schemes so you only receive information that is relevant to your charity.

Governmentfunding.org takes all the hard work out of searching for funding. All potential funds and websites are scanned on a daily basis and email updates are sent out as soon as a new fund opens. All this is done so that you don’t have to spend hours trawling the internet to try and find relevant schemes and means you can dedicate more time to writing quality applications. Subscriptions are available from £299 + VAT per year and one week trials from £99 + VAT.
